Shutterstock Search Alerts: Never Miss A Picture You Need

We have a great new feature to tell you about. You can now save a stock image search and tell Shutterstock to e-mail you whenever new images match it. It’s a huge time-saver if you routinely hunt for the same kinds of images, frequently need stock images of a particular subject, or want to follow your favorite Shutterstock photographers and artists.
Here’s a quick demo of how it works. Look for a new link near the top of the Shutterstock search panel labeled Saved Searches & Alerts.

All you need is a free Shutterstock browse account to start getting notified whenever images come in that suit your interests. For this example, let’s suppose you’re a designer for a fitness magazine and you’re constantly looking for vertical images of people riding bikes.
Step 1. Compose a search for the word “bikes” with the People Search box checked (so we know the image will contain model-released people), and the orientation box set to Vertical Only.

Step 2. Click the “Saved Searches & Alerts” link and a panel will slide out with some additional options. Give your search a name so you can remember it — we’re calling this one “bikes with people, vertical.” Turning on an e-mail alert is optional, but in this case we’re going to activate it and set the frequency to “once a day.” Then we’ll click save.

Step 3. You’ll start getting e-mails from Shutterstock whenever new images match your saved search criteria. It will work for any search, including a search by a photographer’s name, a search by color, or any other field. You can manage your saved searches by clicking “Saved Searches & Alerts” when you’re logged in. It’s easy to run your saved searches any time, delete them, and create new ones.
